Dual Booting Kali Linux and Windows 10

Guide : Dual Booting Windows 10 and Kali Linux 2018.4 KALI   LINUX Kali Linux is a Debian-derived Linux distribution designed for digital forensics and penetration testing. It is maintained and funded by Offensive Security Ltd. It was developed by Mati Aharoni and Devon Kearns of Offensive Security through the rewrite of BackTrack. but we al know Kali Linux as an Linux distro which was made by hackers for the hackers,or say ease of hackers. This distro has many useful tools for a beginner or a professional level of hackers. So here i will guide you through the process of installing Kali Linux on your Laptop/Desktop alongside your mother OS , assuming that it is Windows 10, which in most of the cases is. Prerequisites         When you are about to install an os definatly you would need a Desktop or Laptop, Here in this case the Recommended configurations are 1. A minimum of 20 GB disk space for the Kali Linux install. 2. RAM for i386 and amd64 architectures, minimum: 1GB, recommended: 2GB or more. 3. CD-DVD Drive / USB boot support You will need a Kali 2018.4 or lower version's Installation Image in .ISO or .Rar format.      You can download it here on Kali's Official Website - Kali Image You will need a USB thumb drive, anything above 8GB will work fine. You have to get an ISO burner, I prefer Rufus 3.1 because it has DD mode. You can download Rufus Here. Installation First MAKE A BOOTABLE USB DRIVE  1. open rufus 3.1  2. select your USB drive and select your linux image  ISO that you downloaded.  3. After you get a ready message, click START.  4. Click OK to continue  5. Click WRITE IMAGE IN DD MODE.  6. Click OK to format.  7. Your bootable drive is ready Partition Space On HARD DISK  1. Right click on START button, and select Disk Management.  2. Select the disk you want to install your Kali Linux on. For Example Disk 0 or Disk 1  3. Select the largest drive you have, Right click on it and select "Shrink space"  4. Enter the size of disk in mega bytes, Minnimu of 20 GB , i.e. 20 x 1024 = 20480MB  5. Click SHRINK and wait for hard drive to be partitioned.  6. After completion you will see a new Un-allocated space of 20Gb, leave it as it is.  7. Now shut down your System and boot into BIOS. press F2 while booting to go to BIOS. Disable Secure BOOT  1.Press right key to go to BOOT section, and Disable Secure BOOT option  2. Now change the priority of your USB drive to top, by pressing F5 or F6.  3. Now go to exit and select "Exit Saving Changes".  4. You system will boot to KAlI-LIVE Environment.  Installation  1. Select Start Installer Option..  2. Select Your language, Country and Input Method.  3. Wait for CD ROM to be mounted.  4. Then Select You WIFI hardware or you Ethernet Hardware depending on which you use. 5. Connect to your WiFi and press continue. 6. Leave the Domain name and Host-name as it is. 7. Enter THE LOGIN PASSWORD, i have used toor in the video.Manage Disk 1. Select the drive you have earlier Partitioned, And select the FREE SPACE. 2. Now click on "Create a new Partition" an enter a minimum of 16GB an mount it as Root             (/) partition. 3. Now select the left over FREE SPACE and and Create a new partition of  minimum 4GB as swap area for linux, And then click done setting up partitioning. 4. now to save changes click yes on next scree. 5. Wait for the system to install, and when it asks for as network mirror select NO. 6. Wait for GRUB bootloader to finish installing and then reboot your system from the Kali Partition. 7. Now you will be welcomed to kali login screen, enter Default username i.e. root and your password that you entered earlier, 8. Walla!!!! Your installation is successful , Getting Updates 1. Open terminal window on your linux and Enter commands    sudo apt-get update  sudo apt-get upgrade it will take time depending on your internet speed, and you are done.
